Our Whole Worker Health – Ready to Work course will provide participants with an overview of the CDC/NIOSH Total Worker Health (TWH) approach. The fundamentals of TWH are a practical starting point for employers, workers, labor representatives, and other professionals interested in implementing workplace safety and health programs.
Students will learn to assess an employee’s physical, mental, and emotional capabilities and competency to perform their task safely. Topics covered will include stress, fatigue, nutrition, physical activity, wellness, substance misuse, cold stress, and heat illness with an overview of the Maryland Heat Stress Standard.
Defining Elements:
- Demonstrate leadership commitment to worker safety and health at all levels of the organization.
- Design work to eliminate or reduce safety and health hazards and promote worker well-being.
- Promote and support worker engagement throughout program design and implementation.
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy of workers.
- Integrate relevant systems to advance worker well-being.
