July 2026

Awareness starts with you! Each month brings a new chance to focus on important safety and health topics. See what’s being highlighted this July:

Extreme Heat Awareness Month

July is Extreme Heat Awareness Month, a reminder that high temperatures can pose serious risks both on and off the job. Whether working outdoors or in hot indoor environments, understanding the signs of heat-related illness and following proper prevention practices can help reduce the risk of heat stress, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

Build the knowledge and confidence to recognize heat hazards before they become emergencies. Our Heat Stress online course teaches employees, supervisors, and managers how to identify heat-related risks, recognize symptoms, and implement effective prevention and response strategies to help keep everyone safe on the job.

UV Safety Awareness Month

July is recognized as UV Safety Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of protecting skin and eyes from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. With increased sun exposure during the summer months, it’s essential to take preventive measures such as wearing sunscreen, sunglasses, and protective clothing, and seeking shade during peak sunlight hours.

Take a moment to review Sun Safety Tips and learn how to protect yourself and others from sun-related risks. A few simple habits can go a long way in keeping your skin and eyes healthy all summer long!

National Ice Cream Month

July is National Ice Cream Month, a sweet celebration of everyone’s favorite frozen treat! It’s the perfect time to indulge in cones, cups, sundaes, and sprinkles. Whether you’re a fan of classic vanilla or adventurous flavors, this month is all about cooling off and enjoying a scoop (or three) with friends.

Safe + Sound Week

August 10-16, 2026

What does it mean to be Safe & Sound?

Every workplace should have a safety and health program that includes management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards. Whether you have a well-developed program or are just getting started, making sure everyone is #SafeAndSoundAtWork is the best business model.

Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event held each August that recognizes the successes of workplace health and safety programs and offers information and ideas on how to keep America’s workers safe. Participating in Safe + Sound Week can help get your program started, energize an existing one, or provide a chance to recognize your safety successes.
