Intermediate Work Zone Safety Training (State Specific)

This course is designed to train those who will be actively involved in designing or supervising temporary traffic control in Virginia work zones. Students are taught concepts, techniques, and practices in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices specific to Virginia. Additionally, students will be taught legal aspects of temporary traffic control, installation, and removal procedures, flagging procedures and other considerations such as pedestrians, nighttime work, and urban areas. Several workshops included in this course provide hands-on experience in analyzing and designing temporary traffic control set-ups for various real-life situations. Each student who achieves a passing grade of 80% or higher will receive a VDOT-issued training card and a certificate. All materials are included. Minimum student contact hours: 16
