Our History

Building a Legacy of Safety Since 1923

Founded on March 1, 1923, as the Baltimore Safety Council, Chesapeake Region Safety Council was established by local business, industrial, and civic leaders with a shared commitment to reducing workplace injuries throughout the Baltimore region. What began as a local initiative has grown into one of the nation’s leading safety organizations, expanding its reach, programs, and partnerships while remaining dedicated to protecting workers and strengthening communities.
